Fun Slime Recipes

There is a new trend of making glow in the dark slime. Some of the recipes you will find below are great glow in the dark glue slime recipes.

How many times have you scolded your kid for going home wet and dirty with stains all over their clothes, face, and body after an hour or so of messy play outside? Perhaps, countless times. You’ve even probably banned the poor child from playing outdoors because of the constant intimidating amount of dirt and mess you have to deal with.

If you’re into the neat freak kind of parenting, you probably can’t tolerate messy play. It’s your consistent chore to teach your kids the importance of tidying up and keeping things in order. You despise dirt and mess. You hate to see even a single stain on your child’s shirt. When this happens, you scream, “Eww! Germs!” Just after the not-so-good surprise, you command your child to wash off the dirt immediately and thoroughly.

Of course, parents, especially moms have a solid reason for their strict rules on cleanliness. One of the major benefits of good hygiene is good health. We cannot deny this fact. Still why is it so difficult, impossible even, to stop kids from playing all things yucky and dirty?

Benefits of Messy Play

You’ve probably asked the question above a couple of times because you totally hate removing stains from clothes. Also, you never approve of your kid getting in touch with all kinds of germs. “Of all the organisms he could be close with”, you mutter under your breath.

Nevertheless, we don’t realize that we’ve been there and done that, too. When you were kids, you probably tried catching frogs on a rainy day, or explored what’s beneath that mud. And yes, those days annoyed our parents, too.

Truth is, kids need messy play. This is because they are naturally curious, playful, creative, and adventure-seekers. The activity gets them engaged in their environment. They ask questions, and try to find the answers themselves. They immerse themselves in creative learning that they don’t mind getting dirty at all.

What are the benefits of letting your kids experience this kind of activity?

  1. Enhanced development of the senses

When kids explore their environment, and see what they can learn from it, they make use of their senses. Activities that allow sensory play are vital for physical development such as the hand-eye coordination. Kids become more aware of the things around them. They perceive different characteristics of the elements present in their environment. As a result, they gain better descriptive abilities.

  1. Improves Creativity

If you think kids are just being mischievous when they do messy play, well, don’t judge them yet. Perhaps, they are trying to imitate a certain phenomenon they saw in their environment. Or maybe, they want to be familiar with the behavior of some organisms. Recreating the scene, they discovered, is a great way of remembering things. Plus, it encourages them to be more creative when doing the process.

  1. Brings out the scientist in your child

Curiosity is one of the main qualities of a scientist. Scientists have a hunger for discovering new knowledge. They observe things intently, form some logical guesses, and do experiments to establish facts. Kids also do these basic steps when they do sensory play.

School subjects dealing with science could prompt children to do their own experiments when they get home or when they play with their friends. It’s a good thing because it simply shows that your kid listens well in class and responds to the learnings taught by testing the authenticity of information by themselves. So, allow them to be inventive from time to time.

  1. Boosts imaginative powers

When kids do messy play, there’s a lot going on inside their imagination. An active imagination is essential in many aspects of learning. It is very much related to creativity, since creativity requires the use of imaginative powers. Imagination is also crucial in developing problem-solving skills because it allows the mind to weigh in options and figure out their respective outcomes. On top of that, a powerful imagination compels you to come up with unique creations.

  1. Develops social skills

All kinds of play that involve interaction with other kids encourage your child to become more sociable. He needs to develop social skills early on because it will help him to combat problems such as shyness and low self-esteem. All of us need social skills to create good relations with other people, learn how to become a team-player, practice leadership abilities, and know how to deal with difficult people.

Messy, hands-on play that may sometimes require team effort is way better than the neat smart phone games addiction common nowadays. Playing games on smart phone, tablet, or computer promotes social isolation. It’s not healthy both on the physical and social aspect when done on constant basis. Wise parents would probably encourage their kids to lead an active lifestyle with a couple of good friends.

The Slime Obsession

Still, if you’re uncomfortable on the idea of letting your kid stay frequently outdoors, you probably wonder if there’s an indoor activity that is equally exciting and beneficial for your kids. You bet, the toy manufacturer who came up with the first ever slime back in 1976 understood this concern. Yup, playing with slime is a fun indoor activity that boosts creativity, inventive skills, imaginative powers, motor and sensory development, plus social skills, of course, if you invite some of their playmates to come over.

Well, wait though. What’s the point of playing with the squishy, gooey, and unpleasant-smelling slime that’s cool to the touch? Probably, you’re one of us who initially didn’t understand how it makes sense, especially when you see those kinds that contain rubber insects, eyeballs, seemingly amputated finger, and other strange items being sold in toy stores. That’s actually where the fun starts. Try to figure out how you can play with slime!

To add more fun to your child’s game, why not join the slime-obsessed bandwagon and try to make your own slime at home? You don’t need hard-to-find ingredients and complicated set of procedures to get you started. We’ve found five easy slime recipes you can try with your kids at home.
